SF Fine Art Fair

San Francisco Fine Art Fair is back! I went there today and I found it to be more interesting than the last one 6 years ago. I liked these pieces:

Gordon Cook: Delta False Front (George Krevsky Gallery), Ted Vasin: Give Light (Gallery Bergelli), Mark Greenwold: Men (DC Moore Gallery), the last piece is cross stitching on canvas and I don’t recall the artist/gallery unfortunately.

SF Weekly

Local magazine SF Weekly used an image of one of my paintings The Seed for the issue Best of San Francisco 2010, out today. There are images of different artists’ work all through the paper, nice idea. Check it here.

Power of Self

I was thrilled to be part of the many Honorable Mentions in the competition Power of Self by Artists Wanted, an artists collaborative based in Brooklyn, NY. The judges were actor Steve Buscemi, Chris Weitz, the director of “Twilight: New Moon”, curator at the Guggenheim Museum Helen Hsu and Sascha Lewis, the founder of Flavorpill.
The work is shown online here.

ID Redux at Cain Schulte Contemporary Art, San Francisco

From January 15th I will be part of a 4 person exhibition
ID Redux, at Cain Schulte Contemporary Art in San Francisco along with Daniel Ochoa, Michael McConnel and Lars Theuerkauff: “Portraiture becomes the unifying theme of the four artists’ inquiry, the research perimeter for their intervention. The physical appearance becomes a symbol for personal identity, condensed and reduced to a single expression, expanded into the viewer’s mind into an imaginary narrative.”

You are all invited to the opening Friday 15th, 6-8.30pm.

Spectrum Art Auction

Last Sunday I went to the yearly Spectrum Art Auction benefiting Access Institute for Psychological Services at the Mezzanine, for which I donated a Limited Edition Print (of which there are still more available should you be interested).

It was a great event for a great cause, as Access supports San Francisco’s low income and uninsured residents in need of urgent mental health services, something that has never been more critical than now under the current economic situation.

We saw a great performance by my student Theo’s band from Bird, a San Francisco music school.
