San Francisco Fine Art Fair is back! I went there today and I found it to be more interesting than the last one 6 years ago. I liked these pieces:
Gordon Cook: Delta False Front (George Krevsky Gallery), Ted Vasin: Give Light (Gallery Bergelli), Mark Greenwold: Men (DC Moore Gallery), the last piece is cross stitching on canvas and I don’t recall the artist/gallery unfortunately.
Local magazine SF Weekly used an image of one of my paintings The Seed for the issue Best of San Francisco 2010, out today. There are images of different artists’ work all through the paper, nice idea. Check it here.
I am going to be blogging in a modest way, filling you in with stuff I discover and is inspired by and also with any news to do with my own art…
We’re gearing up for this year’s Spring Open Studios in the Mission.
I still have my studio here at Workspace Ltd
on Folsom Street. Lots of artists all over the Mission
will also be opening their doors the same weekend. Here’s a map
of where all the studio buildings are.
I will be showing small oil sketches, some new still life pieces and work in progress.
Small paint sketch 3.5 x 5 in.
I’d love to see you here, to catch up with all the people I haven’t seen for some time.
Refreshments will be served. (This time I’ll remember the corkscrew opener. Hi Dan!)
April 23rd 7-10pm & 24-25, 11am-6pm

From January 15th I will be part of a 4 person exhibition ID Redux, at Cain Schulte Contemporary Art in San Francisco along with Daniel Ochoa, Michael McConnel and Lars Theuerkauff: “Portraiture becomes the unifying theme of the four artists’ inquiry, the research perimeter for their intervention. The physical appearance becomes a symbol for personal identity, condensed and reduced to a single expression, expanded into the viewer’s mind into an imaginary narrative.”
You are all invited to the opening Friday 15th, 6-8.30pm.

WHEN: January 15 – February 20
Hours: Wed – Friday 12 – 5pm
Opening: Friday 15th January, 2010, 6-8.30pm.
WHERE: Cain Schulte Contemporary Art
714 Guerrero Street San Francisco CA 94110
Last Sunday I went to the yearly Spectrum Art Auction benefiting Access Institute for Psychological Services at the Mezzanine, for which I donated a Limited Edition Print (of which there are still more available should you be interested).
It was a great event for a great cause, as Access supports San Francisco’s low income and uninsured residents in need of urgent mental health services, something that has never been more critical than now under the current economic situation.
We saw a great performance by my student Theo’s band from Bird, a San Francisco music school.
It’s time for Mission Open Studio again. I am taking part in the event at the Workspace Limited building on Folsom Street along with 40 other artists. Around 300 artists in the Mission district are opening their doors this fall.
I will be showing oil paintings, oil sketches on panel, and work on paper as well as work in progress.
